Oh, give me a break (I'm not gone yet)

Just got an email affirming that my abstract for the June conference in Scotland has been accepted. I guess I'm going to Scotland next month. Geez, I guess I'm not going to get that "time off of the grind, to get perspective" after all. There are worse things I suppose (like wallowing in self-pity, eh?)

Congrats on having the paper accepted and going to Scotland! It ought to be a great trip.

Neat! Scotland! I'm jealous! I've never been there. Congrats! Kind of late notice, though, eh?

I'm in the hotel now. Had to fork over $10 for 24 hours of the wireless connection, but that's little price to feed my addiction. ;)

Thanks Undine and B* for the congrats. B*, considering that the final deadline for abstract submissions was April 21, their acceptance was actually pretty quick turn around.

I'm assuming it will be a fairly small conference, but there are some heavy hitters from this little niche confirmed (one of whom happens to be the director from the institute at Tough Commute U whom I wrote about before). I'm glad to be ranked among them. I find these smaller, more focused conferences really to be the best in terms of offering a great concentration of papers I actually want to hear. So, I'm excited.

But, the Rocket Scientist has indicated her thought that maybe this will exhaust my conference budget for the summer (meaning, going to the International Conference on Innovative Interdisciplinarity in Italy in August--where I'm not presenting--is out! Oh well, another year).
